The keyword of this trail is nature. Explore mire vegetation, ponds and the extraordinary Picea abies f. tabulaeformis along the trail. Suitable for families with children.

The starting point for the Aate-Pekan polku Trail is located at Oronmylly. The Oronmylly Conference and Recreation Centre is an ideal base for hikers. The Aate-Pekan polku Trail has been marked with a light-blue colour. The trail takes you through a varied terrain: you will cross a stream along a bridge, ascend along the stairs onto an esker and descend to a paludifying bed of a pond. Soon you will climb again onto another hill and admire the views. You can have snacks at the Vironperä lean-to shelter on the shore of Lake Tarvaslampi, or at the Suurvuori ‘kota’ hut. The trail is also ideal for birdwatching as the number of species is large. Mire edges are nesting places for the common greenshank, the riversides for the green sandpiper and the pond shores for the common sandpiper. From the trail, you can also observe black-throated divers, beavers and ducks nesting at ponds. On late winter nights, you may hear the hooting of the Eurasian eagle owl or the boreal owl across the pond.
